UCSB & Cal Poly nab NCAA Regional bids in college baseball

The postseason drought is over for UCSB while Cal Poly earns a second regional bid in college baseball.

A last season push earned the Gauchos their first NCAA Regional berth for the first time since 2001. The 34-23 Gauchos will open against Texas A&M on Friday in Corvallis, Oregon. Host Oregon State will play UTSA.

Cal Poly enters the playoffs with a 39-17 record and they will play the University of San Diego on Friday at UCLA. The host Bruins will battle San Diego State. The Mustangs also made the regionals in 2011.

Both UCSB and Cal Poly tied for second in the Big West Conference behind Cal State Fullerton.

The double-elimination tournament continues through the weekend.
