Silvernail wins Santa Barbara City Golf Championship

Brett Silvernail erased a six-shot deficitat the start of the day to win the 54th annual Santa Barbara City Golf Championship.

The sophomore from UCSB who played his high school golf at Buena, fired a closing round 66 to win the tournamentat six under par at the Santa Barbara Golf Club. Second round leader Steven Lam of SBCC finished second at 5-under par.

Silvernail birdied the 18th hole and Lam had a chance to force a playoff but could not negotiate an 8-foot eagle putt on 18.

Brian Helton, Kevin Marsh and James Camaione all tied for third place at 4-under par.
