Tribal funds will help Santa Ynez Valley
The Chumash tribe will pay for more fire and law enforcement in the Santa Ynez Valley.
The annual distribution of funds has been made after a close review by a select committee made up of local leaders and tribal members from the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians.
The funds are part of a state agreement to help the local cities and counties impacted by tribal gaming.
This year, $740,000 will be distributed.
The committee approve spending the money in several areas including, the salary for a full time Santa Barbara County firefighter-paramedic, a Sheriff’s deputy salary, and a traffic safety officer.
