Firefighters recognized by Ventura County Congresswoman

Rep. Julia Brownley paid a visit to firefighters in Camarillo Friday.

The Democratic congresswoman, who represents the 26th District, thanked crews from Ventura County, Cal Fire and the National Forest Service.

Brownley said she could see the smoke from her Thousand Oaks office and her Westlake home.

She said 4,000 homes and countless lives were in danger.

She was impressed by the fire fight.

Firefighters downsized the size the fire after walking the firelines with GPS equipment.

Rather than 28,000 acres, firefighters said the Springs fire burned 24,251 acres.
