A Santa Barbara man has been hospitalized after suffering wounds Wednesday night in a knife attack.

Police say it occurred in the vicinity of 200 W. Montecito St. about 11:30 p.m.

Officers went to that location and also nearby at Chapala and Yanonali St.

Two suspects fled the area before multiple police units arrived.

The name of the victim has not been released. He was transported, wearing bandages to his face, to Cottage Hospital.

Investigators say the wounds are not life threatening.

It’s unknown what led to the conflict, but police say the victim tried to fight off the assailants.
