Little boy reunites with doctors who saved him

It was an emotional reunion between a little boy and the doctors who saved him.

8-year old Dominic was transported via helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in July of 2012 with a critical head injury.

He had fallen off a trampoline, hit his head and suffered bleeding in his brain. The doctors say if he didn’t arrive in those golden minutes, he most likely wouldn’t be here today.

On Tuesday, for the first time, Dominic had a chance to re-unite with the medical team that saved his life.

Dominics story came out at a time when there were a lot of noise complaints over the emergency helicopter transports. The hospital now says those complaints have dropped due to the improvements they’ve made. Improvements that include a quieter helicopter, less flights between 10pm and 7am, and more strict monitoring of flight paths.

Also, at a press conference on Tuesday, Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital announced that it is now the first and only pediatric trauma center from San Jose to Los Angeles. This level 2 certification means children with serious injuries will be able to get the best care.
