Security firms expect more business after Boston bombings
Some private security companies say they expect to see an increase in business after the bombings in Boston.
The CEO of Coast Executive Services in Goleta said large companies tend to increase private security after an event where terrorism is suspected. In fact, they usually see a bump in business after acts of terrorism, school shootings and even when the economy is bad.
When business is bad, companies often lay people off. Miguel DeCosta says that’s when even small companies hire extra security guards or have security experts come on-site for a consultation. The safety measures are to prevent a disgruntled former employee from hurting someone.
Some local security firms also say they’ve seen a spike in the number of junior high and high schools requesting security audits since the school shooting in Newtown, Conn. last December.
