Harbor Patrol issues gale force wind warning

Red flag warnings are not uncommon, but warnings with two red flags are rare. Monday, Ventura County Harbor Patrol officers raised two red flags. That’s their way of letting boaters know there is a small craft advisory and gale force winds. Gale force refers to 39-54 mile an hour winds.

Harbor Patrol Sgt. Tom Bazemore said even 60-foot boats would get tossed around on days like this.

The wind caused problems inland too. A downed power line caused a temporary power outage in an Oxnard neighborhood off Wooley Road.

Agricultural fields looked like dust bowls, and some of the dirt blew across busy roads.

Forecasters with The National Weather Service in Oxnard said the Northwest wind is coming from a storm moving across Nevada.

They said the wind should die down by 9 p.m.
