Dead woman found near UCSB identified
The young woman found dead on the beach near UCSB has been identified.
Her body was discovered in the water near Campus Point early Saturday morning.
She is 18-year-old Giselle Esme Ayala of Santa Rosa. Ayala attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department says Ayala was in Isla Vista with a group of friends for the spring break party known as Deltopia.
Her friends reported her missing around 7 p.m. on Saturday night. She was last seen Friday night around 11 p.m.
Her death is still under investigation.
