Spring blood drive stops in Camarillo

A spring break blood drive made it easy to donate Thursday.

United Blood Services parked its blood drive bus outside Camarillo City Hall.

It saved regular donors a trip to brick-and-mortar locations in Ventura and Santa Barbara.

Organizers of the drive said the universal Type O-negative is in short supply.

One donor said he tried to talk his friends into donating, too.

Tom Magdelano works at City Hall and said his donor status impressed his wife when they first met.

He said it only takes eight minutes to fill up a pint blood bag and it feels like a pinch.

Donors also get incentive points that are good for prizes, including movie tickets.
