Deputies ask for public’s help to identify supermarket robber

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department released a photo of the man suspected in robbing a grocery store on Friday night.

The image was captured from the store’s surveillance camera. Deputies said the suspect entered the Vons on the 100 block of Turnpike just after 8 p.m.

Officials said the robber had a gun in his waistband. He ran away with cash and no one was hurt.

The suspect is described as a heavyset male in his late 20s.

He wore a black baseball cap with a white logo, a long-sleeved dress shirt with checkered print and dark pants with white shoes.

If you have any information, call the sheriff’s department on the Anonymous Tip Line at 805-681-4171.
