CIF champion Lions win first-round State Tournament game

The good feeling of winning a Southern Section Division 6 championship carried into the CIF State Tournament for Providence Hall girls basketball. The Lions limited AGBU of Canoga Park to just three points in the fourth quarter as they won 46-26 in a first-round Division 5 game in Montecito.

Sydney Hedges scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Lacey Gonzalez, Lizzy Beebe and Noelle Oppenhuizen scored nine points apiece for the Lions who improved to 20-5 for the season.

Providence Hall will travel to San Diego to face top-seeded Horizon Christian on Saturday.
