Promotions announced in Sheriff’s command staff
12 members of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s department have been given promotions in a large ceremony at the Earl Warren Showgrounds.
Sheriff Bill Brown introduced five deputies, three lieutenants, three commanders, and a chief deputy to the audience made up of coworkers and family members.
They include: Chief Deputy Sheriff Lazaro Salinas, Sheriff’s Commander Julie McCammon, Sheriff’s Commander Eric Koopmans, Sheriff’s Commander Solomon Linver, Custody Lieutenant Jeffrey Warren, Sheriff’s Lieutenant Craig Bonner, Sheriff’s Lieutenant Robert Plastino, Sheriff’s Sergeant Garrett Te Slaa, Sheriff’s Sergeant Daniel Calderon, Custody Sergeant Ronald Phillips, Sheriff’s Sergeant Richard Brittingham and Sheriff’s Sergeant Frank Vasquez.
“They all have different strengths. They are all highly dedicated people who have committed their lives to protecting and serving other people,” said Brown.
Four members of the department retired recently. Brown said 124 years of experience left at that time.
Chief Deputy Salinas said with budget cuts in recent years, “it taught us to be more efficient, it taught us to be more effective and it taught us to work harder.” He said front line deputies are working to prevent crimes, and keep smaller offenses from escalating.
