Bakersfield man under arrest for Lompoc carjacking
An 83-year-old woman is recovering from injuries she sustained during a carjacking in Lompoc.
Lompoc police say the suspect followed the woman as she was leaving the McDonalds at 835 North H Street on Saturday night.
The man pushed her to the ground and took her keys. Several teenagers who were hanging out near the restaurant stepped in and tried to help. The woman suffered a broken wrist and ankle.
The man got into the car and drove off. The car was later reported driving recklessly southbound on Highway 1.
Police located Charles Cerrutti in Bakersfield on Sunday afternoon. He was arrested and is being held at the Kern County Jail. He will be transferred to the Lompoc City Jail and booked for Carjacking, Elder Abuse, Robbery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
