Simon Chavez Run

On Sunday at Leadbetter Beach family and friends of the late Santa Barbara High School Baseball Coach and athlete Simon Chavez honored his memory by

taking part in the 5k beach run Roses En La Playa 2013.

The family says the event was a favorite of Chavez and though he’s not here

hisfamily and friends will participate to honor his memory of what would have been his eighth Roses En La Playa Run.

The run described as an out-and-back race at the beach is a grand prix event.

Which also offers fun and post-race activites.

Chavez who many say inspired the lives of so many was tragically killed when

as a pedstrian he was struck and killed by a passing motorist.
