Pettibone shines in home opener for Gaucho baseball

UCSB head coach Andrew Checketts moved sophomore Austin Pettibone into the number one starter role this week and the 6-4 right handed pitcher sure looks like an ace. He worked 7 1/3 innings of scoreless ball as the Gauchos won their home opener 6-1 over the University of San Francisco.

Pettibone is now 2-0 on the young season as the Gauchos make it three straight victories to improve to 3-1.

Tyler Kuresa homered and tripled with two RBI and two runs scored. Santa Barbara put up three runs in the first inning and cruised to victory.

These same two teams play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
