Train hits pedestrian

An Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train struck and killed a pedestrian on Tuesday night.

The accident happened near Santa Claus Lane in Santa Barbara County around 9:45 p.m.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s officials said train activity was stopped in the area.

The victim is believed to have committed suicide.

No word yet if he is a local resident.

Regularly scheduled train traffic has resumed.
