Oxnard police name names
Oxnard police released the names of nine officers involved in an October shooting that left a suspect and a bystander dead.
The shooting happened on Garfield Avenue in the La Colonia neighborhood last October. That’s where Oxnard Police said 21-year-old Alfonso Limon was mistaken for a suspect after a police chase and shootout.
One of the suspects, identified as 24-year-old Jose Zepeda, was shot and killed at the scene.
Police released the following names of the officers involved:
Senior Officer John Brisslinger, 22 years of law enforcement service
Officer Ernie Orozco, 30 years of law enforcement service
Officer Don Ehrhardt, 16 years of law enforcement service
Officer Jess Aragon, 10 years of law enforcement service
Officer Rocky Marquez, 9 years of law enforcement service
Officer Pedro Rodriguez, 5 years of law enforcement service
Officer Ryan Lockner, 3 years of law enforcement service
Officer Zack Stiles, 3 years of law enforcement service
Officer Matthew Ross, 3 years of law enforcement service
Officers Rodriguez and Ross were also involved in the June death of Robert Ramirez.
The medical examiner said Ramirez died from a loss of oxygen while being restrained after swallowing an 8-ball of methamphetamine.
The Oxnard Police Department is facing lawsuits in the wake of both incidents.
The deaths of Ramirez and Limon also led to demonstrations and accusations of police brutality.
