U.C. Santa Barbara ends losing streak, honors former hoops great

Former basketball star Lucius Davis is the latest Gaucho to be immortalized in the rafters of the Thunder Dome.

U.C. Santa Barbara honored Davis as a Legend of the Dome during halftime of their 66-53 win over the University of Pacific.

Davis played for UCSB from 1988 to 1992, helping the Gauchos to three straight post season appearances. Davis also led UCSB to the program’s only NCAA tournament victory. He is only the fifth former men’s basketball player to become a Legend of the Dome.

UCSB(8-15 overall, 4-7 in the Big West)snapped their 5-game losing streak Saturday night but may have lost its best player again.

Gaucho center Alan Williams went down with an apparent left ankle sprain in the first half and did not return. Williams missed several games earlier this year with a right knee injury.

Without its top scorer and rebounder, UCSB was led byMichael Bryson and Taran Brown, who each scored 13 points.

Next up for the Gauchos, they will travel to rival Cal Poly on Saturday.
