Oxnard property crime rate on the rise

Overall crime in 2012 rose in the city of Oxnard.

There were 9 homicides in Oxnard last year, one more than last year. All of the homicides involved firearms.

Robberies rose by more than 10 percent.

Despite those figures, violent crime decreased in Oxnard, while property crime rose.
Property crimes rose from 3,525 to 4,111 in 2012.

Police said criminals took advantage of unlocked doors and windows in homes and cars.
