County official takes a shot in the arm in the fight against the flu

Politicians are used to being needled. One in Santa Barbara County welcomed it today as a way to fight against the flu.

Supervisor Steve Lavagnino began this morning’s meeting by taking off his jacket and rolling up his sleeve. A nurse then gave him a shot of the flu vaccine in front a packed meeting room and on live government access TV.

The county official showed just how easy and fast it was to get the shot.

The Santa Barbara County Health Department has urged the public, especially the elderly to get flu shots this year. They have also reminded residents to wash their hands regularly and take the necessary steps to avoid getting the flu.
