DP roughs up Royals in boys hoops

Dos Pueblos felt right at home again at San Marcos as the Chargers scored a convincing 48-31 win to tighten up the Channel League race in boys high school basketball. The visitors grabbed a 15-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back as they held the Royals to less than 25 percent shooting from the floor and forced over 20 turnovers.

Chris Williams led DP with 13 points while Gerry Perez added 11 as the Chargers won both of their games this year at San Marcos. The Royals were led by Jake Wheelock’s 13 points.

The loss drops San Marcos into a tie for first place with Santa Barbara as both are 7-3 in the Channel League. The two play at Santa Barbara on Tuesday. DP is just one game behind and they host Ventura on Tuesday before wrapping up the regular season at Santa Barbara on Thursday.
