Two transients injured in fight that puts schools on lockdown
One person is in jail, two have been treated at a hospital, and a fourth person is being questioned after a violent fight and stabbing in the Goleta Valley.
The Sheriff’s Department responded at 1:17 p.m. with deputies on the ground and a helicopter overhead.
The attack occurred in a field off Turnpike and Highway 101. The site is a known homeless hangout. The Sheriff’s Department said transients were involved.
Two schools in the area, El Camino Elementary and San Marcos High were placed on lockdown for about a half-hour until an arrest was made.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Kelly Hoover said the injuries were not life-threatening.
The name of the suspect has not been released.
