Steward Resigns As Ventura Head Football Coach

Ventura High School’s all-time winningest football coach Brad Steward is stepping down after 12 seasons. According to the Ventura Star, Steward wants to spend more time with his 20-year old daughter who suffers from a rare genetic condition known as Williams Syndrome. Steward’s wife died in 2011 after battling pancreatic cancer. Steward became the Cougars career-leader in victories this past year with 82, three more than Phil McCune. He led Ventura to a CIF-Southern Section final and two CIF-SS semifinal appearances.
