Mentally Ill Mother Sentenced

A mentally ill mother who drowned her own daughter was sentenced to a mental hospital today.Blair Stockdill drowned her 8-year-old daughter Alaina in the bathtub of their Ventura apartment in 2010.Last year she changed her plea to guilty by reason of insanity.Under a plea agreement a judge sentenced her to 25 years to life in a mental facility.She’ll begin serving her time at Patton State Hospital in Patton, California.The 27-year-old was in touch with social workers before the tragedy.This week Ventura County Supervisors approved funding to hire more social workers to reduce their caseloads.
