Hit and Run In Isla Vista

**Update** (1:00am)- According to Sgt. Chapman of the CHP, the truck sustained a mechanical malfunction which caused it to collide into the Honda and accelerate forward towards the police officer. The officer is fortunate to have escaped injury from an out-of-control truck. The people who were detained are now released, there were no charges. The vehicle was towed. Isla Vista- Four suspects are in custody in connection to a hit and run in Isla Vista. The incident took place around 10pm at Del Playa and Camino Corto. Sgt. Andrew Chapman of the California Highway Patrol tells us a Honda Accord carrying three passengers was stopped at a stop sign, when a truck rammed into it. The truck pushed the car into the intersection and sped forward. A UCPD officer happened to be at the same intersection, he quickly got in front of the truck to stop it. At one point, we’re told the truck was driving towards the officer’s vehicle. It is unclear whether alcohol was a factor. There were no major injuries. The investigation is on-going.
