Dredging Funds Approved

For the first time in decades the Ventura Port District had to fight for Federal dredging funds.Dredging is needed every year to make sure the harbor is deep enough for commercial fishing boats.But the two and half million dollars in federal money was left out of the President’s budget.It was considered an earmark.Port District officials urged elected officials to speak on their behalf and it workedThe district will contribute a million dollars to the work.Dredging equipment will move to the Ventura Harbor next month.Share your comments about this story with us on the KEY News Facebook page.
