Dr. Pedro Garcia was one of 14 thousand children flown out of Cuba during “Operation Peter Pan” more than fifty years ago.Today the Camarillo resident and USC Professor was honored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the Tower Club in Oxnard.Dr. Garcia thought he would eventually return to Cuba, but the missile crisis led to the country’s isolation.After becoming a citizen, Garcia worked in many local school districts.Garcia was an athlete in Cuba and the US.He has worked to inspire young athletes by sharing his journey.Share your comments about this story with us on the KEY News Facebook page.
