Deputy Stops Vehicle with Armed Passenger

During a routine traffic stop in Carpinteria this morning, a passenger in a vehicle was armed with a gun.The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department says it stopped a large SUV northbound on Highway 101 because of faulty light.When the deputy contacted the driver he saw the passenger had a gun in his waistband.Backup patrol units and the California Highway Patrol were immediately called the scene.One person was arrested, but no specific details on possible charges or other information has been released.
