It’s so hikers and locals can evacuate quickly if a fire breaks out.We tried to find out why brush clearing was happening on a Red Flag Warning day from county and city fire officials, but they were unaware it was even happening. But, not long after our cameras starting rolling, the crew stopped and told us they were leaving because of the Red Flag Warning. Finally, after some phone calls… we found out the trail workers are clearing brush on behalf of the Santa Barbara Water Resources Division. They have a facility near the trail head. City fire officials say there may have been a communication breakdown.
