Ventura Sheriff’s Arrest Two Men For Illegal Marijuana Possession

Ventura County Sheriff’s arrested two men for illegal possession of marijuana for the intent to sell.43-year-old Jeffrey Ruthenbeck, of Thousand Oaks, and 36-year-old David Staggs, of Anaheim , were arrested Thursday night during a search of Ruthenbeck’s house in the 20 block of W. Sidlee Street in Thousand Oaks. Detectives received information from the Thousand Oaks Police Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Unit, “COPPS,” of possible illegal operation at the house. After investigating, narcotics detectives obtained a search warrant. During the search, they discovered over 30 lbs. of dried marijuana and a small quantity of methamphetamine, heroin, and dried psilocybin mushrooms, according to a press release issued by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Some of the dried marijuana was packaged for sales. Detectives also located several large marijuana plants that were being cultivated in the backyard, according to the report.While detectives were inside conducting the search, David Staggs arrived. After speaking with him, detectives determined Staggs had provided a false name and was in possession of just under one ounce of methamphetamine and possessed it for sales. Ruthenbeck was arrested for cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, and possession for sale of a controlled substance. Staggs was arrested for giving false information to a peace officer and possession for sales of a controlled substance. Both were booked into the Ventura County Jail. Their arraignment is pending.
