Ventura Man Arrested For Attempted Murder
Police responded to a call on the 100 block of E. Lewis Street in Ventura early Friday morning after a report that a man was brandishing a knife. When they arrived, they found a man had been stabbed in the back.Ventura police arrested 32-year-old Luis Oropeza and charged him with attempted murder. According to police, a 50-year-old man was collecting recyclables near his home when Oropeza approached from behind and stabbed him in the back. The man was transported to Ventura County Medical Center and treated for a non-life threatening injury.Police say they found Oropeza at the nearby house. He was positively identified by the victim and arrested. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail.
