Update: Brush Fire near “Western White House”
Refugio – Fire crews have halted the progress of the “Circle Fire” burning in the Los Padres National Forest.The fire grew to a maximum of 15 acres before crews were able to stop the spread of the flames. According to the Forest Service, firefighters are currently “mopping up”. They say they are confident they will have the flames fully contained by Monday.Two crews will remain on scene overnight and two other crews will continue to work the fire on Monday.The fire broke out around 3:30 Sunday afternoon, just off of Refugio Road near West Camino Cielo. Forest Service officials initially responded with full force. That includes at least 8 engines, 2 air tankers, 1 water tender and 1 dozer.According to an eyewitness, the fire flared up approximately 3 miles east of the Reagan Ranch, a property once known as the “Western White House”.No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.
