Student Brings Gun to School

A thirteen year old student was arrested early Monday for bringing a pellet gun near Lompoc Valley Middle School. He showed someone the gun who alerted the police department. That same person thought it was a semi-automatic gun and prompted the school to be on lockdown. School staff and police located the student, searched his backpack and found the gun.The student said he brought the gun to school for protection, officials reported. He was booked into Lompoc City jail and then released to his parents.
