Simi Valley Sex Offender Compliance Check

Simi Valley detectives went door to door Saturday morning conducting a compliance check of registered sex offenders in the city. Authorities say 105 out of 120 were found to be registered as convicted sex offenders in compliance with the law.Detectives say they will conduct a follow-up investigation to determine if the 15 remaining people who were not at their homes at the time of the checks are in violation of their requirements. A copy of a new Simi Valley ordinance, which stipulates restrictions for Halloween, was also handed out to the contacted sex offenders. The ordinance requires that sex offenders post signs on their front doors saying: “No candy or treats at this residence.” It also prohibits them from opening their doors to children or decorating.
