Santa Maria Man Arrested For Attempted Rape

18-year-old Emanuel Esquivias was arrested outside a neighbor’s house and charged him with attempted rape of a minor.Police were called to a house on the 900 block of W. Jewel Street around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. According to Santa Maria police, Esquivias walked into the bedroom of his neighbor’s house where to young girls were and closed the door. Authorities say he demand sexual favors and started undressing. One of the girl started streaming and throwing things at him. The girl’s father ran in and forced him out of the house.Police found Esquivias a short time later and arrested him. He was booked into county jail on charges of attempted child molestation, burglary, attempted lewd acts with children under 14 years and under, and attempted rape. His bail is set at $250,000.
