Santa Barbara City College Student Wins Poker Tournament

A 19-year-old Santa Barbara City College student from Sweden hit the jackpot in the central coast Fall Poker Classic. Linus Dahlstroem’s winning streak happened on Saturday at the Chumash Casino and Resort. The No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament started at 9 in the morning with 542 players in the Samala Showroom. After 12 hours of poker, Dahlstroem agreed to split the 51 thousand dollars in remaining prize money with his nine competitors. The finance major walked away from the tournament with a little over 10 thousand dollars, as the other nine competitors left with amounts as little as 3 thousand 6 hundred dollars. The champion says it is his biggest win so far. Two Santa Barbara women, Shari Schubot and Leslie Grodin, reached the final table which casino officials say is rare in their large tournaments. Just this year the poker world has seen a huge influx of women battling for the title of champion. Chumash Casino and Resort’s gaming floor is open 24/7 and has daily cash and prize giveaways.
