Paddleout For Surfer Killed In Shark Attack

Family and friends gathered on Sunday to mourn the death and celebrate the life of Francisco Solorio, Junior of Orcutt. Solorio was killed by a great white shark on Tuesday. The shark attack happened at Surf Beach, almost two years to the day that a UCSB student was killed by another great white shark in the same waters. On Sunday, at exactly 11 a.m., the time Solorio was mortally wounded by the shark, family and friends paddled out into the blue waters of Jalama Beach in his honor. Family and friends say they are comforted by the fact that Solorio died doing what he loved.Donations are being accepted at the Rabobank located at 519 East Main Street in Santa Maria under the “Francisco Solorio Memorial Fund #9502-342252”.
