Mitt Romney Receives Official Presidential Nomination

Tampa, Florida– Republican delegates gathered in Tampa, Florida have nominated Mitt Romney as their presidential candidate.In a roll call of states Tuesday afternoon, New Jersey put Romney over the top, giving him the prize that eluded him four years ago. Romney is scheduled to accept his party’s nomination in a speech Thursday night. His wife, Ann, spoke Tuesday evening. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the convention’s keynote speaker, also gave his speech. President Obama is not ceding the spotlight to the GOP. He hit the campaign trail Tuesday, making speeches at two colleges.
