Milpas Water Main Break

A water main break in Santa Barbara is causing quite the traffic jam this evening. The incident happened around 1:30 this afternoon in the area of Milpas and Canon Perdido. A public works inspector tells KEY News construction workers with Southern California Gas Company were working on replacing a natural gas line when one of the workers accidentally hit the water main. “The water main was damaged by the drilling from the gas line at this point we have accessed there is a pretty good size hole in the main itself”, says Santa Barbara City Public Works Inspector Randy Ward. The water has since been shut off in the area. Traffic is being diverted one block north and south of the break so crews can fix the problem. So far no injuries or crashes have been reported.
