Immigrant Work Permit Program
A new work permit program for young illegal immigrants starts Wednesday, but few people know about it.Many local farmers say they were not aware that it was happening. But the move could help many of their workers.The Department of Homeland Security is handling the program that will grant two-year work permits and prevent deportation of those who arrived in the U.S. as children.The Obama Administration says it could help nearly two million people.But the application isn’t cheap.There is a 465-dollar processing fee..Applicants must also prove their eligibility by submitting school transcripts, medical and financial records and/or their military service record.
