Horses Are Some Of The Evacuees

Santa Barbara – The Red Cross Evacuation Shelter setup at the Wake Center at 300 North Turnpike is empty, but the volunteers who are there through the night say they are not surprised. They say many of the Painted Cave residents who were ordered to evacuate the fire zone have been through this before and already have back up plans when something like this happens.However, the shelter remains open until further notice.Most of the evacuees include horses from ranches in the fire zone. 14 horses in all were taken to the Earl Warren Showgrounds where they’ll spend the night.KEY News reporter Sara Bush has more on the equine evacuations.
