Golf Bag Theft

Deputies arrested two men accused of stealing golf clubs and bags from public courses.The thefts occurred at River Ridge in Oxnard, Sterling Hills in Camarillo and Camarillo Springs Golf Course the last weekend of September.A victim noticed his missing clubs on Craig’s List and arranged to buy them back after notifying Deputies.Deputies initially arrested 28-year-old Richard Holland of Ventura, and 29-year-old Michael Shumway of Ojai on drug charges.But they say charges were added when they found $6 thousand dollars worth of stolen golf equipment in a trailer they shared in Ventura.Otto Kanny, the General Manager of River Ridge, posted warning signs at the course, telling people not to leave their wallets in their golf bags.Kanny said he was delighted the suspects were caught.Both pleaded not Guilty.Share your comments about this story with us on the KEY News Facebook page.
