Former SB Dons Stars Support Gym Project

Built over 60 years ago, Santa Barbara High School’s JR Richards Gymnasium needs updating. The campaign for Santa Barbara High School is trying to raise 800,000 to renovate a gym that has not had much work done to it since the 1940’s.Measure Q2010 funding will provide 550,000 and the school has raised one hundred thousand dollars so they now need another 150,000.1970 Santa Barbara High School graduate Jamaal Wilkes who starred at UCLA and with the Lakers, toured the gym today. Don Ford, who played with Wilkes at both Santa Barbara High and with the Lakers, also was on hand along with former Lakers assistant coach Bill Bertka.
