Century Riverpark 16 To Open

Construction on a movie theatre by Riverpark was put on hold when the recession hit.But Centura Riverpark 16’s opening is a sign of better economic times to come.Century Riverpark 16 is located at The Collection on Seaglass Way.Other shops and restaurants are slated to follow next month and next year.James Meredeth, the Vice President of Marketing and Communications calls it a “next gen” theatre.Meredeth says that’s another way of saying that it has the latest technology.Meredeth took KEYT on a private behind the scenes tour.The films arrive on hard drives in protective cases.I-T employees have replaced traditional projectionists.And move over IMAX, the theatre has an XD Extreme Digital Auditorium.For a few dollars more you can see 007 and other new releases in comfortable love seats.The experience will be difficult to duplicate in at home.And besides going to the movies is half the fun.The grand opening is Friday.And there is a cafeteria that is high tech too.A smart phone app will help you pay and receive discounts.It will also silence your phone before the movie begins.KEY News will have more details at 6:30 p.m.Cinemark Century Theatres Share your comments about this story with us on the KEY News Facebook page.
