Actress Lobbies For Gay Rights

Actress Jane Lynch and her wife are in Santa Barbara this weekend to raise awareness and money for Equality California, the state’s largest legal advocacy group for the LBGT community.Lynch says she wants to draw attention to Measure SB 1172, a bill that would prohibit mental health providers from trying to change the sexual orientation of minors, even if a parent authorizes the treatment. Supporters say ‘Conversion Therapy’ could lead to depression, drug abuse and in some cases attempted suicide. Opponents argue the legislation itself would violate the civil rights of minors. The bill is on the Governor Jerry Brown’s desk. Members of The Pacific Justice Institute plan to take legal action if the Governor signs the measure into law.KEY News reporter Sara Bush spoke to both sides and has our story.
