Ventura County Rescue Mission

People lined up for an early Thanksgiving meal at the Ventura County Rescue Mission. They took their seats at decorated tables while community leaders filled their plates. The annual event had more than enough volunteers including people in uniforms from Naval Base Ventura County.

The Rescue Mission served about 800 people in need and handed out pocket sized bibles. Joseph White brought his family including his newborn daughter. He says they are currently living in an RV. White bought a clean white shirt from Goodwill yesterday to dress up for the occasion. He says homeless people could use more compassion in an economy where jobs are hard to find.
