Veterans Day Celebration At Hollywood Beach

Hollywood Beach Elementary School celebrated Veterans Day early. Lt. Commander Ward Doss of Naval Base Ventura County led Hollywood Beach students to a special Veterans Day Ceremony on the beach across the street from their school.

Doss threw a commemorative wreath in the ocean, while each student threw a carnation in honor of fallen veterans. The annual event also included the release of white doves the Smitty Company as the Oxnard High School Marching Band played. A parent of the one of the students also played bagpipes.

Just off shore, the Channel Islands Harbor Patrol Fire Boat sprayed a water canon to salute.
