Ventura Police Face Wrongful Death Lawsuit

An officer involved shooting in Ventura has led to a wrongful death lawsuit filed in Federal Court. The lawsuit accuses Ventura Police Officer Eric Jackson of violating Police Policy and the civil rights of Mario Lopez.

The 44-year-old was shot and killed during a domestic violence call on Leighton Drive in May of last year. Ventura police said the officer feared for his life when Lopez charged toward him. Mrs. Lopez hired attorney Andrew Krause of Krause & Hirschhorn. Krause says the widow deserves to have her side of the story heard. This is not the first time the officer has been accused of excessive force. Ventura police say they can’t comment on pending litigation.
