Vandenberg Missile Launch Brings Out Protesters
Vandenberg Air Force Base launched a Minuteman III missile at exactly 3:07 Wednesday morning. Demonstrators hit the streets of Santa Barbara Tuesday afternoon to protest the launch.
The unarmed missile successfully reached its target, 4200 miles away in the Pacific Ocean 30-minutes after lift-off. The military conducts several Minuteman III tests each year at the Vandenberg Air Force Base to determine the weapon system’s accuracy and reliability.
